ABOUT THE PROJECT
Client: City of Marion
Project type: Planning policy
Planning Futures authored a city-wide Housing Diversity Development Plan Amendment on behalf of the City of Marion that brought together a significant amount of research and technical investigations to craft directions and policies for guiding a greater diversity of housing options across the council area that responded to local character and topography.
The Amendment reviewed housing diversity and density throughout Marion and included opportunities for medium-rise (3-6 storey) development surrounding Marion Regional Centre and Oaklands and along key transport corridors, mixed use opportunities in the City’s key centres as well as establishing new residential character areas in key locations.
The Development Plan Amendment was also required to be delivered within tight timelines to enable the final Amendment to be submitted to the Minister for Planning for approval by the end of 2017 as the State transitioned to a new planning system, which Planning Futures met.
