ABOUT THE PROJECT
Client: SA Department for Education and Gould Thorpe Planning
Project type: Strategic planning and Growth Projections
Over a 3-year period, Planning Futures undertook a number of growth impact assessments on behalf of the South Australian Department for Education and Gould Thorpe Planning in response to The 30-Year Plan for Greater Adelaide. Assessments included the development of population growth and enrolment projections for birth to year 12 education services to determine future needs and make recommendations for new and/or expansion of facilities across Greater Adelaide.
In relation to the Northern and Barossa Regions, Planning Futures also analysed key growth areas in detail including Playford Alive, Blakeview, Evanston, Roseworthy, Concordia, Gawler, Two Wells, Virginia, Angle Vale, Buckland Park and a number of infill locations.
With respect to the outer Southern Region, Mount Barker, Murray Bridge and City of Adelaide, Planning Futures provided analysis of growth projections, demographic analysis and projection of enrolments. Key areas of growth analysed in detail included Aldinga, Aldinga Beach, Hackham, Sellicks Beach, McLaren Flat, McLaren Vale, Seaford Meadows, Seaford Heights, Moana Heights, Seaford Rise, Mount Barker and Murray Bridge town extensions and the City of Adelaide growth, together with a number of infill locations.
Both studies identified current childcare, early learning, primary and secondary services, assessed the impact of growth on these services and made recommendations for new facilities and services that included childcare, OSHC/Vac, preschool, primary and secondary schools. A key recommendation of the reports were the two new birth to year 12 facilities at Aldinga and Angle Vale.
