ABOUT THE PROJECT
Client: City of Onkaparinga
Project type: Strategic planning
The City of Onkaparinga’s Recreation and Open Space Plan (ROSN) sought to develop a network of diverse and quality recreation open spaces across Onkaparinga’s suburbs and townships to meet the current and future needs of its residents and community.
The Trails and Cycling Strategic Management Plan provides direction ensuring an integrated connected network across the city. It reflects the City of Onkaparinga's placemaking, economic development, transport and healthy active lifestyles objectives as well as demand and growth areas.
Planning Futures worked collaboratively with the City of Onkaparinga to review the Recreation and Open Space Plan and Trails Strategy and develop subsequent updates.
This included providing assistance to the Council with research and issues analysis, conducting Elected Member and staff workshops, preparing a clear community engagement strategy, development of an innovative open space hierarchy matrix and planning principles, review of asset management levels of service, and ultimate preparation of new strategic management plans for the City’s recreation and open spaces.
